Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) are a key tool used to improve the sustainability of fisheries around the globe. FIPs bring suppliers, retailers, and foodservice companies together with conservation groups and scientific experts to address environmental challenges in a fishery and work toward sustainability standards, public policy upgrades, and other interventions. By supporting FIPs, seafood businesses not only show a commitment to improving seafood sources and responsible business practices, but they are also able to maintain or widen the diversity of their seafood offerings.
Supply chain members interested in engaging with a FIP can become formal participants by providing funds/in-kind support and/or by contributing to activities in the FIP’s workplan. Businesses can also provide additional support by taking action on specific, time-bound needs that individual FIPs have requested on FisheryProgress. These engagement opportunities are listed on the "Details" tab of a FIP’s profile (register/login and view ‘Engagement Opportunities’ under the 'Details' tab on the top right).
The following FIPs have identified engagement opportunities; please click on the FIP names below to learn more about the specific opportunity and how to support seafood improvements.
