First Fish Distribution Non-Profit Corporation
✕First Fish Distribution Non-Profit Corporation distributes wild hand-caught Canada Arctic seafood including Arctic char and turbot. The fish are harvested by Inuit fisherman on Baffin Island in Nunavut. First Fish is working to invest in building sustainable fisheries in remote communities on the island. The Inuit fishery on Baffin Island is managed according to the UN FAO Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries.
First Fish is proud to share the Inuit fishermen's harvest with customers. The fishermen travel hundreds off miles each trip across the ice to harvest their fish with nets, through up to eight feet of ice, using their traditional knowledge and skills. The fish are processed in Nunavut and some of the fish are then hot and cold smoked. First Fish will continue to provide wild-caught Arctic seafood to customers and ensure that the seafood sales directly support the Inuit fishermen.
