Codfathers Seafood Market
Codfathers Seafood Market
✕Since opening nearly 25 years ago, Codfathers Seafood Market has been providing restaurants and customers throughout the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, with daily deliveries of fresh seafood from around the world. Founded by the local Bishop family, Codfathers Seafood Market has been owned and operated by Jon and Anne-Marie Crofts since 2002. Codfathers Seafood Market aims to provide the traditional fishmonger service to the Okanagan and takes pride in offering a huge selection of seafood, in peak condition, often day-boat caught and shipped everyday from the coast.
As a local, family business, Codfathers has always been aware of the importance of conserving marine resources so that future generations can enjoy them too. Their team strives to be on the forefront of the British Columbia seafood industry by encouraging sustainable harvest of seafood products and by promoting small, artisanal fisheries. That’s why, wherever possible, many of their products are labeled with the names of both the boat and fishers, the location of catch, and the method of catch used. In addition, all of their product sources are documented to ensure that their products are traceable and meet their fair trade principles.
In 2006, Codfathers Seafood Market became the first full-service fish market in Canada to partner with and embrace the Vancouver Aquarium Ocean Wise program. All seafood items in their retail market are labeled with the Ocean Wise logo if they are considered sustainable by the Ocean Wise program. They are also involved with the Slow Food movement (Slow Fish). Slow Fish works to help educate and promote local, seasonal, wholesome foods and food culture.
